Insurance

I currently accept the following insurance plans:

  • U.T. Health EAP
  • ComPsych
  • Lyra
  • HealthAdvocates
  • First Responders Mental Health Program through the City of Austin
  • Optum

Prior to your first session I will verify your insurance benefits so that you can be informed about any co-pays, deductibles or limitations that may affect your claim. Should you wish to file a claim with your insurance company for whom I am not a provider, I am happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork. I issue receipts for services at the end of every month upon request.

Whether you choose to use your insurance benefits or not, you may be able to use your FSA card to pay for therapy services. Please check with your FSA provider for details.

I accept the Employer Assistance Programs (EAPs) listed above. Receiving care through your EAP benefit is different than using insurance. EAPs generally provide short-term services for a variety of behavioral health issues, but they are not meant to provide long term services. Often EAPs view their services as health and wellness services, so you normally do not have to have a diagnosis to use your EAP benefits.

Medical insurance is not the same as an EAP. Medical insurance does not pay for “wellness” mental health services – it requires any care provided to be “medically necessary” and will only consider paying for care if a person has a qualifying mental health diagnosis; we can discuss this further at the time you make your appointment. Insurance also does not pay for marital therapy, but may cover family therapy to address issues arising for a participant who does have a mental health diagnosis.
